
The experienced centre-half missed the end of last season as he was hampered by a hip injury suffered in the League game against Metheringham and he will miss Weltons pre-season.
Many people say that Chesman has been one of the key reasons Welton have started to turn their undoubted potential into a trophy winning side signing midway through the historic double Cup winning season in 2008/09.
Should Chesman make a full recovery he is not guaranteed a starting spot with the likes of Joe Snookes, Leigh Warman and Scott Gibson all battling for the starting births at centre half.
Taylor told the Daily Telegraph: "It's make or break for Jamie now.
"He has got to come back and play. If he is not ready for the start of the season it will be difficult for him. When he gets his boots on and starts playing hopefully he will be all right.
"He is a fantastic player: one of the best centre-halves around. We just take it day by day with him and see how he progresses."
