Taylor looking ahead

Al Taylor insists Welton still have more to give after booking their place in their third Cup Final of the season by beating Waddington United 1-0 in the Kelly Read Cup Semi Final. It means Welton have the chance to retain the Cup for the fourth season in a row and an unlikely quadruple is still a possibility. However, Taylor is refusing to get carried away.

"It is called a work in progress," he said.

"We have said that many times before and there is no need for us to change.

"Winning gives you a good feeling," he said.

"If you can't enjoy winning, you might as well put the lid on the box because it is time up.

"Whether it helps or hinders lies with the individual.

"You can get a taste of it, think it is great for us to go forward and try and win something else because you enjoyed that so much or you can go complacent and say that is great we have set up this finale to the season, that is all I wanted to do.

“We had everything to lose against Waddington today and we have progressed to the final.”

“We were on a complete hiding to nothing today as most people would have been looking at it and saying anything less than a 5-0 win for Welton against Waddington is a poor result.”

“I’m sure if you ask any other team that has been knocked out of the Kelly Read Cup this season if they would have taken a 1-0 win in a Semi Final against Waddington they would have snapped your hand off for it.”

"The most important thing is that the players want to be successful and I don’t think motivation will be an issue in any of our remaining 4 games from now on."

“It is easier for players to motivate themselves for a game against a team the caliber of Victory, Fox & Hounds and Seven Seas because you know if you give anything less than 100% they will punish you.”

"It is not a time for us to sit down and individualise performances and go through everyone who has been on the pitch.

"It is a time for us to enjoy the moment, be respectful to Waddington who made it difficult for us and over the next two or three days get back to work and make sure we are fully focused on Victory and the cup finals still to come.
