Welton SSC defender Will Carter says the signing of defender Joe Snookes is 'unbelievable'.
The 22-year-old is still coming to terms with the idea that he will be sharing a dressing-room with the former Lincoln and Sleaford defender.
He told BBC Radio Welton: "It's fantastic really. Snookeseys a top man."
"He was one of my heroes. There's a lot of things you want to ask him. You've got to make sure the time's right."
While Snookes is opening another chapter to his long and distinguished career, many Welton fans are also hopeful of great things from Carter next season as the contreversial defender has promised to kick his playboy lifestyle into touch by agreeing to a stipulation in his new contract banning Carter from Lincoln Cirty Centre on Saturday nights. Carter boasts just over 100 appearances in a Welton shirt, and has marked several of those with eye-catching defensive displays and some stunning goals, including a blistering half volley which proved to be the winner against Horncastle 2 seasons ago but Carters Welton career has often been shrouded in controversey with the lure of City Centre bars on a Saturday night often proving to much for Carter to resist.
Carter said: "Despite what all the reports are saying about dressing room unrest and players losing faith in the management and the board, Everyone's buzzing. We just can't wait for the season to start. Pre-season feels like a long time for the players. Sure we’re all disappointed about the lack of signings and the Tinkler incident but hopefully the signing of Joe will be the first of many new lads coming in and with the talent we already have we are confident we can have another decent season this term, As a team now We all just want to get on with the first day of the season and have a go at Hunters."
Carter and Snookes are no strangers on the Dogma sofas but will they be able to strike up a similar bond on the Pitch?
