But the Scot had no illusions Welton will need to hit new heights tonight against Victory and their three Cup finals against Fox & Hounds, Scothern and Seven Seas the team some regard as one of the greatest of all time.
"It's fair to say we need four perfect games," Taylor said.
"But I think, also, that the fact we've been performing very well in the last six weeks gives us the belief we can produce against Victory tonight.
"There's a strong feeling in the team that they want to do well, that they're highly motivated to produce a good performance against Victory."
"I think as teams we respect each other, but we both know there'll be two teams tonight capable of winning the game.”
Welton know that whatever side Victory put out will be full of attacking threats but because of the strength in depth that they have, Welton really can not predict who will be in Victory’s starting line up.
Taylor said: "It’s difficult because they will have the world and his wife available tonight.”
“We know that whoever they have will be a threat and It has to be a collective team effort and responsibility to stop whoever plays.
"If you just think about stopping one guy, they've got nine others who can hurt you.
"The tactic has to be not just to stop one player, but to limit their threat in general."
He added: "It's going to be a game where we obviously have to make sure we go on the attack as we have to win and a they only need a draw.”
“It’s important for us though that we don’t go chasing the game and let one in early on because then we really would have a mountain to climb.”
The Socialites could also do with a referee who does not ignore the linesman’s flag like the decision that cost Welton in the two sides first meeting of the season.
Taylor said: "I have no fear, absolutely not, that there'll be anything at the back of his(the referee's) mind."
“We have two official linesman and hopefully after the game we will not be talking about a refereeing decision but a moment of brilliance from one of 22 talented footballers."
Welton are sweating on the fitness of several key names ahead of tonights game and Taylor faces the biggest selection dilemma of his illustrious managerial career as he tries to juggle his resources during a punishing schedule in which every game is crucial.
Taylor said: "I still have a few doubts in my mind about the team selection but I’ll have a think about it and we will make a decision this evening."
